A 57:24 long non-stop CD,  GATEWAY is a very ambient and somewhat dark musical
journey.  Beginning with deep bell drones and flute, this music leads the listener into deep
relaxed meditation.  The sounds slowly morph inside out and carry you along into dark
passages.  The sounds on this CD are very unique and spacious.

This CD features two long synthesizer tracks with electronically processed flute and samples
of various sounds.  It seems to me that this is the best of his essays into the "long form" of
CDs containing only 1 or 2 extended, continious pieces. We move through the "gateway" in
very lanquid fashion, escorted by the sounds of blowing winds.  It may move a bit too
slowly for some listeners, but the feeling builds, and the second track (which continues
without a break from the first) is full of special, heart-felt visionary moments we expect
from this great composer and artist.  A very fine ambient album.

"Gateway" is an atmospheric minimalist set from Robert Carty.  The atmosphere is dark.  The
soundscape is sinister.  The sound design is spacious. This is some ethereal space music.
The layers of synth vibrate around a self-generated Rhythm.  The esoteric sequences build
and disappear into themselves.  These are not Frippertronic loops.  They are new walls
buildings and collapsing continuously.  Robert is in the zone.  He can do no wrong.
