This is a very relaxing, peaceful CD. Four tracks, all around 15:00 long. Each track has it's own
unique wall of flowing sound. The first track
Merging Source
begins with a slow echoeing rhythm.
The variety of sounds float off in different directions. The next track
Past Boundaries
has an East
Indian influence with flute and tamboura sounds. The third track
Breathing The Infinite
has the
slow rise and fall of breathing. And the last track
Timeless
is a rhythm track that does not really have
a rhythm. Each track on this CD is a real gem. A classic CD.

This work is the essence of relaxing ambience in the spacemusic genre, reminding me of early
David Parsons, Steve Roach and all the other greats. One track, Past Boundaries, reminds me of
Parson's work from Yatra, Abode of Shiva--but with richer instrumentation. The first three tracks
are gentle and flowing, while the last title track has Carty's characteristic warmth and aspiration.
All are built around repeating motifs. There's scarcely a weak moment on this disc for spacemusic
fans, although some of the pieces might seem too slow to others. Put it on when you just want to
space out, relax and explore your inner awareness. perhaps if you are in the right space you might
even get a glimpse of timeless eternity.

"Timeless" is a return to Robert Carty's monumental walls of sound. His sound design talents are
epic. He builds his soundscape meticulously-almost pedantically. The attention to details is downright
scientific.Robert's artistry overshadows his perfection. The lush soundscapes are augmented by some
eerie samples. The progression has a sense of early 1970's ambience and some avant garde trappings.
Favorable references to Mother Mallard are evident. The opening sequences on the title track would
make Robert Fripp proud.

"Timeless" is a four-part suite of light, flowing electronic music, divided into roughly equal parts of 15
minutes each. As usual, the music and cover art are beautiful. The music seems to swirl around in circles
of ever-widening space. There is an overall feeling of floating, a sense of being lighter than air. The music
is deceptively simple in the ease in which it flows, but there are things happening musically on many levels.
For example, throughout "Past Boundaries" there are broad strkes of sound which hold for several seconds,
then faade, then repeat, then fade again. On top of this is a rawer, processed sound like mixing wood and metal,
which pulses at regular intervals, but in a slightly irregular  fashion. On yet another level;, feathering strings are
gently plucked, and tinkling high-pitched chimes ring out. Only when conciously trying to sort these out do they
seem like individual parts, because they meld together into a single relaxed musical mood. Sometimes, when I
hear music with many layers, I can pick out a part I would leave out, because it destracts from the rest, but that
isn't the case here. What could have ended up sounding busy just sounds like it belongs together.
"Breathing The Infinite" is softer, but the layers are still there. Carty seems to have a knack for apt
titles, as this music does seem to breathe, as does the closing title track. Not a sequencer or a beat of any
kind is to be had here. This is a music to calm the nerves and soothe the senses.
